After University joined Kodak as a graduate systems engineer and then organisation and methods engineer. After 8 years joined BOC Gases Division and moved into the personnel department as OD Consultant and then Personnel Systems Manager. Later joined Sperry Univac as HR manager for region covering UK, USSR, Iran, and Middle East, South Africa. Promoted as Compensation and Benefits manager for International Division. Transferred to US for six months before promotion to Regional HR Director based in Rome Italy with responsibilities for Southern Europe - Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal.

On reorganisation joined Ambrosetti, strategy management consultants based in Milan. Brought in Dr Gillian Stamp to work on a big programme with Montedison, the large Italian multinational company.

After 4 years returned to UK to establish a consultancy business focused on the Construction Industry. Led a research project to examine the comparative approached to the senior executives of Construction companies in UK, France and Germany. After 3 years went as independent consultant focusing on UK organisational development programme called Investors in People. Now working as interim HR manager on a variety of projects including the West Coast Route Modernisation programme, a $10bn project to upgrade the main rail route from London to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Currently working for TPS, an engineering design consultancy and a subsidiary of Carillion Plc, a UK $6bn construction services company.

He is the author of over 25 articles that explore a range of HR issues through the prism of Jaques and Brown's ideas.
